Small mountainous rivers (SMR) have recently been recognized as important contributors of organic carbon to the marine environment. We present dissolved and particulate organic carbon fluxes from previously unexamined rivers of the southwestern region of New Zealand's North Island and additional flux data from the Southern Alps, South Island, New Zealand. The dissolved fluxes are relatively low and show little variation. The particulate fluxes are less than our previous estimates but still high compared to other non-SMR watersheds.
