Spinning is an effective forming technology for axi-symmetrical parts. With the increasing of tubular products in the background of weight-lighting, the spinning is widely applied in the tube forming for its applicability to short production runs and varied symmetrical shape in a low cost. The spinning technology is developing its flexibility and numeralization recently. It is necessary to make the forming properties clarified in the new spinning technology. In this study, a typical case of the taper shape is formed on the end of aluminum tube in two courses by computer numerically-control led (CNC) spinning, and the forming properties of taper part are experimentally examined. The results show that the thickness of taper part becomes smaller and the length becomes larger. Also the differences of forming properties in two courses are compared. The forming properties of CNC spinning of taper shape on tube end are clarified in this study. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
