NH4[Mn2Mo2O8(OH)(H2O)] was prepared at room temperature in alkaline media from solutions of manganese and molybdenum. The solid was characterized by means of X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Atomic Absorption (AA) and CHN Analysis. Besides, the IR frequencies of the vibrational modes could be figured out with the Gaussian98w program and assigned to the experimental spectra. The unit cell has the following parameters: a = 9.758, b = 6.756, c = 7.969 angstrom and beta = 115.38 degrees. The structure was determined from the Powder Diffraction Data with different softwares such a Winplotr, Crysfire, Chekcell and Gsas. (c) 2005 Elsevier SAS. All rights reserved.
