Lagrangian stochastic (LS) models of dispersion in the convective boundary layer (CBL) are modified here to include the effects of particle fall velocity. This is accomplished by subtracting the fall velocity in the calculation of the vertical displacement, by reducing the decorrelation time-scale, and by making a new modification to the deterministic acceleration term in the vertical velocity increment equation. This new modification has an impact on downwind concentrations predicted by LS models of heavy particle transport in the CBL. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
