An all-plastic optical-fiber level sensor for point measurement has been developed. The device detects the presence of various liquids by measuring the intensity variation of a green-light signal, back-reflected by a special tip-shaped fiber probe. The experimental setup is described in detail and some results and test measurements are discussed. (c) 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
