A P2S5-based solid electrolyte (30P(2)S(5)-70Li(2)S) was synthesized from the rapidly quenched glassy counterpart by heat treatment. The 30P(2)S(5)-70Li(2)S solid electrolyte showed a high lithium-ion conductivity of about 1.0 X 10(-3) S cm(-1) at room temperature. Graphite showed reversible electrode reaction in the electrolyte A solid-state battery with the 30P(2)S(5)-70Li(2)S glass-ceramics, LiCoO2, and graphite as an electrolyte, a cathode, and an anode, respectively, showed steady charge-discharge cycling.
