A super-hydrophilic amorphous titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin film was prepared by simple electrodeposition method from aqueous peroxotitanium complex solution. The surface structure was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The hydrophobic amorphous TiO2 film was converted into super-hydrophilic by the irradiation of ultraviolet (UV) light. The super-hydrophilicity of the films was controlled reversibly by alternate UV irradiation and storage in the dark. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
