The introduction of continuous-flow techniques in the field of solid-phase assisted organic synthesis requires appropriate reactors. These flow reactors must fulfill several requirements, ranging from aspects of chemical reaction engineering and cost-effective manufacturing to specific conditions in organic synthetic methods. The successful manufacturing of such flow reactors requires the interdisciplinary cooperation of different research teams, complementing each other. In this paper, the development of the PASSflow reactor is described, which covers aspects of mechanical reactor design based on chemical reaction engineering concepts. In addition, the utilization of these optimized reactors in palladium(0)-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions is presented.
