Trophozoites of the free-living amoeba, Naegleria fowleri, were isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid of meningoencephatitis patient. The infecting agent was identified as N. fowleri based on morphologic, serologic and molecular techniques carried out on the isolated organisms. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
