The adsorption of tris(8-quinolinato)aluminum(III) (Alq(3)) into mesoporous silica was investigated. Alq(3) Was easily occluded into the mesoporous silica from Alq(3) solution and the luminescence altered with respect to the amount of adsorbed Alq(3). This is the first report to effectively modify the luminescence properties of Alq(3) by the host-guest and guest-guest interactions.
