Cr2AlC ceramics were fabricated by hot-pressing using Cr, Al and C powders as starting materials. The phase assemblages of the samples consisted of Cr2AlC, as a major crystalline phase, together with a very small amount of Cr7C3 and an unknown phase. Its thermal and electrical as well as mechanical properties were determined. (c) 2005 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
