A novel 2D polymeric Pb-II complex containing the first Pb-O=, bond, [Pb(5-FUOAc)(2)](n) (5-FUOAc = 5-fluorouracil-1-acetate), has been synthesized and characterized. The single-crystal X-ray data shows the coordination number in Pb-II ions is seven, PbO7, with stereo-chemically active electron lone pairs, and the coordination sphere is hemidirected.
