We investigate the effects of the domain size on the dynamics of the spiral wave drifting in reaction-diffusion media such as complex Ginzburg-Landau equation and Barkley model. We find that the boundary of the domain becomes the only attractor for the drifting spiral wave when the domain size is small enough. The minimum size of the domain supporting a sustained spiral wave can be determined in this way. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
