Optical properties of Pr3+ doped lithium tellurite glass suitable for drawing fiber have been studied and profile of energy levels obtained. An excitation with 457.9 nm line of Ar+ gives strong fluorescence from P-3(0.1), and D-1(2) levels to various low-lying levels. It is found that the fluorescence intensity ratio from P-3(1) and P-3(0) levels to a common lower level viz. H-3(5) at different temperatures can be used to measure the temperature.
