The aim of this study is to prepare Au nanoparticle on hydroxyapatite surfaces. This work was carried out by a two-step method consisting of Au(III)-complex chemisorption and subsequent reduction by external reducing agent at ambient temperatures. The reduction of the Au(III) complex to Au-0 was accomplished by chemisorption and physisorption on the HA surface. The HA-Au nanocomposite acts as a new class of inorganic-inorganic scaffolds for low platelet adhesion and enhances the blood compatibility. Synthesis of nanomaterials is salient features of the work with implications in designing inorganic-inorganic nanocomposites for different applications. The data on the characterization of the nano-composite synthesized and the results of its hemocompatibility are presented and discussed.
