A novel plate-shaped omega phase formed in a Ti-30Nb-3Pd (wt.%) shape memory alloy during quenching in addition to the formation of alpha '' martensite, retained beta and fine-particle omega phases. The omega and beta phases were fully transformed to alpha '' with a (110)(alpha '') twin structure during room temperature deformation. (c) 2006 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
