We report the first demonstration of long period gratings in single mode As2Se3 chalcogenide glass fiber. The grating is implemented by pressing a threaded rod against a short piece of fiber. Its strength can be tuned over a 25 dB range, has high repeatability, and is fully reversible. (c) 2006 Optical Society of America.
