Boron carbide-titanium diboride composites have good properties. These materials have high hardness of boron carbide and high strength and fracture toughness of titanium diboride. Titanium diboride due to inhibition of growing grain of boron carbide causes to increase fracture strength. The effect of other additives is investigated by many of researchers. These additives can produce liquid phase and cause to improve sinterability in the system or higher fracture toughness. The combination of boron carbide, titanium diboride and additive is selected to reduce sintering temperature, improved mechanical properties and microstructure modification. In this paper we tried to investigate the effect of different additives on sinterability and properties of boron carbide-titanium diboride composites. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
