A new lead wire compensation technique is presented for conventional two wire resistance temperature detectors (RTDs). Existing two wire resistance temperature detectors generally use bridge balance methods, where the two lead resistances introduce appreciable error in measurements due to environment temperature variations. The presented technique considerably reduces the effects of such lead resistances and can accommodate temperature variations that the lead wires may be subjected to in industrial environments.
