A simple and one-pot method for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidones is reported. 12-molybdophosphoric acid in refluxing acetic acid catalyzes this three-component condensation reaction to afford the corresponding pyrimidinones in good yields. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
