Optical properties ( transmittance, reflection and electromagnetic field distribution) of a one-dimensional metallic-organic photonic crystals (MOPC) with periodic Ag/N,N'-bis-(1-naphthyl)-N,N'diphenyl-1,1 'biphenyl- 4,4'diamine (NPB) multilayer structure were studied. The calculated electromagnetic field distribution of the MOPC suggests that field localization is strong within the organic layers at the resonance wavelength, which is a strong indication of resonance tunnelling. Our calculated results suggest that a broad omnidirectional stop band of the MOPC could be obtained in the visible region by adjusting the thicknesses of the layers. Also, the high transmittance (pass band) also can be obtained in the visible region by optimizing the structure of the MOPC. These results demonstrate that MOPC materials may prove quite useful for various photonic and electronic applications.
