Quercetin is a kind of flavonoid which has been proved to exhibit anti-tumor activity. The interaction modes of quercetins with monomeric and dimeric G-quadruplexes were studied by absorption, fluorescence, CD, and H-1 NMR spectroscopies. The ligands were found to be stacked with terminal tetrads of monomeric G-quadruplexes by intercalation and bound to dimerie G-quadruplexes by groove binding. (c) 2006 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
