Fully aromatic C60Cl30 is much more difficult to reduce than non-aromatic C60Cl24; the anion radicals C60Clnradical anion (n = 24, 30) are unstable and undergo rapid decomposition with loss of Cl- anions and partial substitution of chlorine atoms by organic groups.
