A two-dimensional mathematical model has been developed to describe simultaneous self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) and selective laser sintering (SLS) of powder compositions. The models applicability is limited by the magnitude of laser irradiation. It allows a comparison to be made between product geometry and the velocity of the laser irradiation spot.
