The long-term (26 months at room temperature) stability of X-ray induced color centers in silver-doped glass was investigated. The stability is greatly improved after silver addition due to the competitive trapping of electrons by silver ions. The fading of color centers obeyed first-order kinetics with a half-life of longer than 5 years, showing the practicable application of such silver-doped glass as a recyclable colored glass.
