A new species, Inonotus compositus, is described and illustrated from Xizang (Tibet), China. The species has basidiocarp made up of fused, compound pilei, and pilei are usually imbricate; pileal surface lemon-chrome, zoned, tomentose; pileus margin blunt; pore surface is cream to pale yellow when fresh, become reddish brown to fuscous when bruised; hyphae thin- to slightly thick-walled; setal hyphae sometimes are present in the trama. The species and it closely related species are discussed.
