A novel and efficient Ag-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reaction has been developed. Terminal alkynes couple with aryl iodides and aryl bromides in the presence of silver iodide, tripbenylphosphine and potassium carbonate to afford the corresponding cross-coupling products in high yields.
