Imagine a 25-week-old baby, just delivered because of cervical insufficiency. Her brain weighs just more than 100 g and is presumably normal, but is nonetheless very immature. How can it be protected and supported to grow and develop normally? What role does modern cerebral monitoring play in this process? Currently, the answer is probably none. This article analyzes the reasons and points out some areas of potential that may have future benefits.
