The densities and surface tensions of an ionic liquid (IL), EMIGaCl4, were determined in the temperature range of 288.15 to 343.15 +/- 0.1 K. The volumetric properties and the properties of surface for the ionic liquid were discussed by Glasser's theory and Yang's interstice model. These results show that the properties of EMIGaCl4 are near to those of molecular solvents. (C) 2006 Published by Elsevier B.V.
