The present report describes a patient with septic thrombosis of the inferior vena cava (IVC) related to at abscess adjacent to the IVC. Despite prolonged antimicrobial therapy and systemic anticoagulation, sepsis and embolism persisted while the size of the thrombus increased. Percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy was; resulting in removal of the infected thrombus and complete clinical recovery.
