Cryptosporidium hominis and Cryptosporidium parvum isolates from children in Uganda were characterized by DNA sequence analysis of the GP60 gene. Eight aleles were identified, 4 C. hominis and 4 C. parvum, of which 3 represent new C. parvum families. The data show that it is highly likely that the route of transmission is anthroponotic.
