One 3D noninterpenetrating metallic-organic framework (MOF), namely M-1.5(TMA)(4,4'-bpy)(0.5)(mu-OH2) 1 (M = Zn1.35Co0.15, H(3)TMA = benzene- 1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid, 4,4'-bpy=4,4-dipyridyl), showing unprecedented (3,4)-connected (8.10(2))(2)(4.8(4).10)(2)(4(2).8(2).10(2)) topology, has been synthesized hydrothermally via the self-assemble of hybrid metal ions with polydentate O-donor H3TMA ligand and coligand of rigid bidentate N-donor 4,4'-bpy.
