Polystyrene supported aluminium triflate was prepared from polystyrene supported aluminium chloride and triflic acid. This reagent was used as a new chemoselective Lewis acid catalyst for dithioacetalization and transdithioacetalization reactions. This polymeric catalyst can be easily recovered and reused without appreciable change in its efficiency. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
