A sample La0.68Pb0.32FeO3 with an orthorhombic distorted perovskite structure was prepared by a sol-gel method. The gas-sensing properties have been studied to CO gas. The experimental results revealed that the La0.68Pb0.32FeO3 showed smaller grain size, higher conductance and higher response to CO gas, compared with LaFeO3. We observed a p- to n-type transition around 210 degrees C upon exposure to CO. The activation energy for conductance of La0.68Pb0.32FeO3 in CO gas was higher than that of LaFeO3 in air below 210 degrees C, but lower above 210 degrees C. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V.
