The author describes a technical simplification of the lenghtening temporalis myoplasty based on the temporal muscle anatomical structure which is featherlike and after having observed the muscle lenghtening in more than 100 lengthening temporalis myoplasty. The major modification consists in avoiding superficial undermining of the anterior part of the temporal muscle. The surgery is easier, quicker and the postoperative care are simplified. The coronoid process is osteotomised throught the nasolabial approach avoiding the zygoma's osteotomy. (C) 2009 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
