New modular P-chiral ligands have been prepared from commercially available (S)-alpha,alpha-diphenylprolinol. With these new types of ligands, up to 95% ee was achieved in the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of functionalized olefins. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
