The coordination polymer of copper(I) iodide Cu4I4(DABCO)(2) ( DABCO = 1,4- diazabicyclo-[2.2.2] octane) was prepared by solvothermal methods, and its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure contains a novel 6(5)4 topology and displays interesting self- penetration.
