Here progress in the development of well-defined halogen containing polyolefins is described. A comparison of industrially relevant examples is given with attention to the influence of the halogen type and content on the thermal and crystalline properties and the resultant structure-function relationships in the context of application. A more detailed account of the fundamental basis of such structure-function relationships is given through a discussion of the various ethylene vinyl halide copolymers that have been reported.
