Thelopsis paucispora is described as new from Socotra (Yemen, Indian Ocean). The species is characterized by asci containing 30-40, two-celled spores, Trentepohlia as photobiont and a crustose subeffigurate thallus colonizing calcareous rock. A key for all known species of the genus Thelopsis is provided.
