In here, we presented desorption/ionization on mesoporous silicate (DIOM)-mass spectrometry (MS) for analysis of low molecular mass compounds. The highly ordered mesoporous silicate was synthesized by the hydrothermal template synthesis routes. The physical properties of calcined materials have been investigated by using XRD, TEM and N-2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. The DIOM-MS successfully overcomes the problem of matrix interference which limits the usefulness of MALDI-MS for small molecule analysis in low mass region. The distinctive advantage of this novel method was confirmed by analyzing mixture of several kinds of small molecules. In addition, DIOM-MS could be also operated both positive and negative mode with comparable result of MALDI-MS. DIOM-MS has several availabilities such as easy sample preparation, rapid analysis of small molecules without noise, versatile coupling with other separation techniques, and high throughput manner.
