A complex with triple-stranded helices, {[Cu(mtz)](3)(CuI)}(n), was obtained under hydrothermal conditions. The complex possesses an unprecedented non-interpenetrated (12(3))(12(2)center dot 14)(3) network, which represents the first example of the largest gon value of the smallest ring for the Archimedean net reported so far.
