In this communication, Split-Phase glycolysis of isocyanate derived cold cure foams, with glycerin as a new glycolysing agent, is reported. The process was simple and economically attractive among material recycling processes. Glycerin was used as a destroying solvent and sodium hydroxide as the catalyst, respectively. In order to study the ability of glycerin as a glycolysing agent and for selecting a system to obtain high quality recovered polyol, the effects of various reaction times were investigated and the characterization and comparison of upper and lower phases were performed by using instrumental (FT-IR, (HNMR)-H-1 and (CNMR)-C-13) and classical methods.
