The mixture of catalytically active ionic liquid, 1-methyl-3-(2-aminoethyl)imidazolium hexafluophosphate, and water has been found to be an environmentally friendly and recyclable reaction medium in the synthesis of 4H-pyrans derivatives under computer-controlled microwave irradiation.
