Three lignin-based carbon films were fabricated relating to the lignin amount about 8, 14 and 20%, respectively. SEM photographs showed that the role of lignin played in this case is not only a precursor but also a pore size dominator. This is because that the presented pores are obviously in micro- and nano-meter sizes related to the variety of lignin amount. Additionally, the variety of lignin content has been also found evidently to influence the adsorption and resistance properties of carbon films. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
