A new functionalized polyoxometalate by transition metal-amino acid coordination complexes, H-4[Na(H2O)(2)][Cu6Na(gly)(8) (H2O)(2)][BW12O40](2) (.) 13H(2)O (1) (gly = glycine) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, TG analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 possesses a 3D framework, which is built up of [BW12O40](5-) building blocks, hexanuclear [Cu6Na(gly)(8)] coordination clusters and Na+ ions. Furthermore, magnetic measurements show ferromagnetic interactions for compound 1. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
