During charging process for metal hydride electrode, it is well known that there is a multi-step reaction mechanism, including the formation of adsorbed hydrogen atom at the grain surface, followed by the diffusion of the adsorbed hydrogen atom from the surface layer into the alloy bulk or the re-combination of adsorbed hydrogen atom to form hydrogen gas. Consequently, a problem arises related to the utilization efficiency of charging current. The hydrogen evolution during charging process on Ti-Zr-V-Ni-Cr alloy electrode was investigated in this paper. Based on the character of hydrogen evolution, a special way of charge was discussed.
