Enantioselective electrophilic fluorination of beta-keto esters with Selectfluor (R) catalyzed by DNA and a nonchiral ligand-Cu(II) complex is presented. The chirality transfer from DNA to the substrate appears to be caused by the intercalation or groove binding of the substrate-ligand-Cu(II) complex to DNA.
