In this study, extraction of Mn(ll) from hydrochloric acid solutions into Alamine 336-m-xylene system was investigated. Effects of the acid molarity, the extractant volume, the amine loading factor, the initial Mn(II) concentration on the extraction were determined. For the single stage extraction, the optimal Alamine 336 contents at the optimal extraction points were determined. All extraction experiments were conducted with initial Mn(II) concentrations of 1, 5 and 15 g L(-1), each at 1, 5 and 10 mol L(-1) HCl. It has been observed that extracted Mn(II) concentration has increased as the acid and the initial Mn(II) concentration did. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
