The synthesis of beta-keto enol ethers involving the treatment of cyclic beta-diketones with alcohols in the presence of various heterogeneous catalysts has been investigated. HClO4 center dot SiO2 was found to be the most effective catalyst for this reaction to form the beta-keto enol ethers in high yields and in short reaction times at room temperature.
