The soft atoms and molecules are highly polarizable and magnetizable. An acid and a base of similar magnetizability values are expected to have stronger interactions than those with very different magnetizability values. The atomic shell structure may be considered to be a consequence of a minimum magnetizability principle. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
